The Problem

Healables.io addresses the related problems of sports injuries, chronic illness, chronic pain and opioid and NSAID dependence. While not always the case, often the above conditions are directly related. Sometimes an initial sports injury doesn’t heal quite right and turn into a source of chronic pain. The initial injury can trigger chronic illness – for example an initial knee injury can trigger post-traumatic osteoarthritis. With the lack of options to treat chronic pain, typically NSAIDs or opioids are prescribed. Long term use of NSAIDs carry a significant risk of side effects and opioids can result in addiction and even death. So sports injuries, chronic pain, chronic illness and medication dependence can be seen as a single problem.

Chronic pain is complex. There is often a physical element and an emotional element. Both elements need to be addressed for chronic pain to resolve. Likewise, chronic illness is associated with lifestyle issues and is best addressed with a series of interventions that address the body and the mind.

Current Solutions are inadequate

Current solutions fall under one of four categories: medications, non-invasive interventions, surgeries or therapies. Again, this is because of the dangers of long-term medication use, the complexity of chronic pain and chronic illness and in large part because the mind and body are not addressed together.

Integrative mind/body medicine such as found in USA top centers has the most success. However, these solutions are expensive, time consuming, dependent on a tight knit team of highly trained professionals. Therefore, unavailable to most.

Another option is microcurrent therapy that also exhibits excellent results. However, as an in-clinic method it is time consuming and also requires well trained therapists. As before, microcurrent therapy on its own is not a complete solution because it does not address the psychological side of chronic illness and chronic pain.

Current electrotherapy devices are not user-friendly, not wearable and not built smart for cloud integration.

High Level Overview

The Healables solution is a platform designed to accelerate healing, reduce inflammation and relieve pain in a home setting. Thus, transforming the successful approaches of integrative medicine and microcurrent therapy from clinic-based therapies into a home-based product.

To create our patient-centric product, we focused on usability. We have made healing as easy as getting dressed and pressing go on your smart phone. The digital health coach interacts with the patient and motivates him or her to heal. The smart clothing has built-in permanent textile electrodes and allows easy docking with the electroceutical device via magnetic snaps.

Providers remotely monitor progress, remotely adjust treatment in real-time, and deliver a complete treatment sessions remotely. Data is pulled from user input and from physiological sensors, then crunched by our backend AI system and treatment is changed in real-time. This enables personalized, adaptive, optimized treatment. The system gets smarter as it learns each user. Likewise, the big data developed with growing traction will result in better, faster treatments (and new IP).
